Goa, May 23 -- A major fire broke out in a flat at Siya Complex in Bicholim, causing extensive damage to property and valuables.

According to reports, important documents, cash amounting to nearly Rs.1 lakh, and jewellery were destroyed in the blaze. The total loss is estimated to be around Rs.25 lakh.

Firefighters rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported and managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread further to nearby flats.

No casualties have been reported in the incident so far. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.
