Goa, April 17 -- A major fire broke out at Dallas Beach Resort near the Ajoba Temple in Ashvem, triggering panic in the coastal village of Mandrem on Friday.

Thick flames and smoke were reported from the resort premises, with the blaze spreading rapidly and drawing immediate concern from nearby residents. In the absence of immediate firefighting response, local villagers from Ashvem rushed to the scene and gathered near the temple area to help control the fire.

Eyewitnesses said that people used available resources in an attempt to contain the flames and prevent further damage to surrounding structures.

Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the fire, and further details on damage or injuries are awaited.
