Goa, May 20 -- The Mapusa Court on Tuesday rejected the bail application of a Kenyan national accused in a human trafficking and prostitution case.

Additional Sessions Judge-2 Apurva Nagenkarr observed that there was prima facie evidence indicating the accused's involvement in allegedly luring women to India under the false promise of employment before forcing them into prostitution.

While dismissing the bail plea, the court noted that the accused, along with others, had allegedly procured the survivor and lived off the earnings generated through the illegal activity.

The court also took into account statements suggesting that the victims were allegedly threatened with rape and death in order to coerce them into prostitution.
