India, March 18 -- A court in Mapusa has convicted an Arpora resident in a stalking and assault case, sentencing him to imprisonment along with fines under multiple provisions of the new criminal law.

Judicial Magistrate First Class Akshata Kale found the accused, Sarvesh alias Muru alias Babu, guilty of the charges.

The court sentenced him to three years of simple imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 under Section 78. Additionally, he was fined 10,000 under Section 79, and awarded one year of simple imprisonment with a further fine of 10,000 under Section 333.
