Goa, July 9 -- Sourabh Chandrakar, the absconding founder and prime accused in the Mahadev betting app case, has been detained in Oman, with Indian authorities initiating efforts to secure his extradition or deportation, officials said on Wednesday.

According to officials, Chandrakar, a native of Chhattisgarh in his 30s, was taken into custody by the Royal Oman Police a few weeks ago following an Interpol Red Notice issued at the request of Indian investigative agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Chhattisgarh Police.

The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that the Mahadev betting app syndicate is linked to a large-scale money laundering operation involving proceeds of crime estimated at around Rs.6,000 crore. T...
