Goa, Sept. 25 -- Authorities in Ladakh have filed charges against Congress Councilor Phuntsog Stanzin Tsepag following violent clashes in the region that left at least four people dead and around 90 injured. The government has also attributed the unrest to provocative speeches by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.

The violence erupted yesterday, with mobs reportedly burning down the BJP office in Ladakh and the Ladakh Hill Council Secretariat. In response, curfew was imposed in Leh district, and security forces including the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, CRPF, and local police were deployed to restore order. Restrictions have also been enforced in Kargil amid calls for statehood and constitutional safeguards for Ladakh.
