Goa, Aug. 1 -- The Central government has informed Parliament that the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor will continue to remain suspended due to the prevailing security situation, despite receiving several representations from Sikh religious groups and organisations seeking its early reopening.

Responding to a query in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said the government had received requests from members of the Sikh community, including religious leaders and organisations, highlighting the corridor's religious and emotional significance and urging its resumption.

However, Singh stated that the existing security scenario necessitates the continued suspension of the corridor.
