Karnataka's Withdrawal of Mhadei Petitions Won't Affect Goa's Case, Says WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar
Goa, Aug. 5 -- Goa Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Subhash Shirodkar has said that Karnataka's decision to withdraw its petitions before the Supreme Court in the Mhadei river dispute will have no legal impact on the ongoing case, as petitions filed by Goa and Maharashtra are still pending.
Shirodkar clarified that the legal proceedings concerning the dispute will continue despite Karnataka's move, with the Supreme Court still required to hear the petitions filed by the two states.
The minister further stated that Karnataka would continue to face contempt proceedings over allegations that it undertook work related to the Mhadei project without obtaining the mandatory statutory clearances.
