Goa, Sept. 3 -- Mapusa MLA Joshua D'Souza has questioned the prospects of political entrants who become active only a few months before elections, saying voters may be reluctant to accept candidates who appear on the political scene at the last moment.

D'Souza said that if the Goa Assembly elections are held early next year, only around four months may remain before the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect.

He argued that those serious about contesting elections should have spent the previous four years working among the people, addressing local concerns and raising issues affecting their constituencies, rather than entering active politics just three or four months before polling.
