India Signs Agreement With US To Procure Javelin Anti-Tank Missiles
Goa, Aug. 28 -- India and the United States have signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) for the procurement of the Javelin anti-tank guided missile system through the US Foreign Military Sales route.
The agreement marks a significant step in the growing India-US Major Defence Partnership, with India becoming a customer of the Javelin system.
The medium-range, fire-and-forget anti-tank missile is designed to engage a range of targets, including armoured vehicles and fortified positions. It is produced by the Javelin Joint Venture comprising RTX and Lockheed Martin.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor welcomed the agreement, saying it reflects a defence partnership that is becoming deeper and more capable.
