Goa, Aug. 2 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an intensification of monsoon activity over northeast India and the foothills of the central and eastern Himalayas during the next four to five days. The weather agency has also issued flash flood warnings for several northern hill states and parts of southern India, urging residents in vulnerable regions to remain cautious.

According to the IMD, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across the Northeast for the next five days. States including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to witness widespread rainfall through the week.
