Goa, May 4 -- To form the government in the West Bengal Assembly, a party or coalition needs a simple majority of 148 seats out of the total 294 seats. This "magic figure" is required to cross the halfway mark and stake a claim to power in the state.
In the ongoing counting trends, results are being declared for 291 out of 294 constituencies, with leads available across all seats. According to the latest updates, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 191 seats, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is ahead in 95 seats. The CPI(M) is leading in one seat, and other candidates are ahead in four constituencies.
