Goa, April 9 -- Voting is underway in the high-profile 2026 Assembly elections across Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, with major political parties battling for power. Assam is witnessing a direct contest between the BJP and Congress, with the BJP seeking another term. In Kerala, the ruling Left Front is targeting a fifth consecutive victory amid a three-cornered contest involving Congress and BJP. Puducherry is seeing a tough fight between N Rangaswamy's AINRC-led alliance and the Congress-DMK bloc. By 3 PM, voter turnout stood at 75.9 percent in Assam, 62.7 percent in Kerala, and 72.4 percent in Puducherry. Several top leaders cast their votes during the day, while results for all seats will be announced on May 4.
