India, Feb. 16 -- The High Court of Bombay at Goa, while hearing a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the Birch fire tragedy, has directed all coastal village panchayats in the state to submit comprehensive details of trade licences issued in their respective jurisdictions.

The court has specifically asked panchayats to furnish information on whether commercial establishments operating in their areas possess valid construction licences and occupancy certificates, and whether trade licences have been granted in compliance with existing laws and regulations.
