Heavy Rain Triggers Waterlogging in Sanguem; Goa Forward Leader Blames Poor Drain Maintenance
Goa, July 4 -- Heavy rainfall on Saturday led to severe waterlogging in Sanguem, disrupting traffic after the main road in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue near the bus stand was submerged.
The flooding caused inconvenience to commuters and motorists as rainwater accumulated on the busy stretch, slowing the movement of vehicles.
Goa Forward Party leader Meshu D'Costa blamed the situation on the alleged failure of the Public Works Department (PWD) to clean roadside gutters at several locations in Sanguem before the onset of the monsoon.
According to D'Costa, blocked drains prevented rainwater from flowing freely, resulting in waterlogging on the road.
