Goa, Oct. 21 -- As the Northeast monsoon intensified, Tamil Nadu's Regional Meteorological Office on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall alert across several districts. Chief Minister M K Stalin reviewed the situation with officials and instructed precautionary measures to be enforced amid the downpour.
A red alert was issued for Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, and Ramanathapuram. Puducherry union territory also received a similar warning. Meanwhile, an orange alert was sounded for Chennai and districts including Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari.
