Goa, Oct. 30 -- The long-pend ing demand for political reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Goa has en countered a potential hur dle, with the High Court of Bombay at Goa on Thurs day restraining the Cen sus Commissioner of India from notifying estimated ST population figures based on any data other than those derived from the first Cen sus conducted after 2026. The interim stay could hold up a crucial step in the process of readjusting As sembly constituencies for ST reservation, at a time when tribal leaders have warned the government of renewed agitation if the promised formalities are not complet ed within two months.
