Goa, Aug. 8 -- Goa Forward Party chief and MLA Vijai Sardesai has accused the state government of introducing legislation to safeguard constituencies that are "collapsing," alleging that such moves are aimed at strengthening vote banks.
"To make the vote bank 'Fulay Papad,' they bring a Bill," Sardesai said, using a local expression to suggest political appeasement. He further claimed that a Bill concerning Goa University was expected to be tabled today, alleging that "whatever is called Goa University, they want to clear it."
Sardesai's remarks add to the opposition's criticism of the government's recent legislative agenda, which they allege prioritises political gains over public interest.
