Goa, July 18 -- The Pernem and Bardez Taluka Truck Owners Association has taken a strong stand against the Regional Transport Office (RTO) practice of registering vehicles based on rent agreements. At a recent meeting in Pernem, which saw the participation of around 600 truck owners, the association raised serious concerns, alleging misuse of this process by outsiders. According to the association, non-local individuals and businesses are exploiting this rule to get their vehicles registered in Goa, even though they are not actual residents. The truckers claim that this loophole is being used by these outsiders to run illegal transport businesses in the state, which severely impacts the livelihood of genuine Goan operators.
