Goa, Sept. 17 -- The Goa Transport Department has announced that motor cab operators can purchase digital fare meters equipped with a printer and GPS tracking device from any vendor, provided the device complies with Rule 140 of the Goa Motor Vehicle Rules, 1991.

The directive, issued by Transport Director Pravimal Abhishek, IAS, aims to ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in fare calculation for tourists and commuters. Authorities emphasized that the devices must meet all legal metrology standards and maintain an intact seal to prevent tampering.

Taxi operators are advised to comply with the rule to avoid penalties and ensure their vehicles remain eligible for operation.
