Goa Records 36% Rainfall Deficit This Monsoon; North Goa Worst Affected, Says IMD
Goa, July 15 -- Goa continues to experience a significant monsoon shortfall, with the state recording a 36 per cent rainfall deficit between June 1 and July 15, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD's Area Weighted Average Rainfall report shows that Goa received 909 mm of rainfall during the period, against the normal 1,421.4 mm, reflecting a 36 per cent deficit.
North Goa has recorded the highest deficiency, receiving 830.3 mm of rainfall compared to the normal 1,448.1 mm, a departure of 42.7 per cent below normal. South Goa received 978.6 mm against the normal 1,397.9 mm, registering a 30 per cent deficit.
