Margao, June 8 -- The southwest monsoon maintained its grip over Goa, bringing widespread rainfall across the state during the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 a.m. on June 8, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Among all rain gauge stations, Pernem recorded the highest rainfall at 58.2 mm, closely followed by Mormugao with 55.4 mm and Dabolim with 28.8 mm, indicating vigorous monsoon activity over coastal and northern parts of the state.

Canacona continued to receive substantial rainfall with 27.4 mm, taking its seasonal total since June 1 to an impressive 204.4 mm, the highest cumulative rainfall recorded in Goa so far this monsoon.
