Goa, July 25 -- The Goa Lokayukta has issued notice to the Margao Municipal Council chief officer in connection with a complaint over an allegedly illegal NOC granted for public land in Margao. The matter has been registered as Proceeding No. 08/2026, with a preliminary enquiry scheduled for August 5, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.

According to the complaint filed by Shri Joseph Paul Savio Coutinho, the NOC dated June 17, 2026, was issued for land at Chalta No. 27, P.T. Sheet No. 190, Margao City without a council resolution and without prior sanction under Section 88 of the Goa Municipalities Act, 1968. The complaint alleges corruption, maladministration, abuse of position, and furnishing false information.
