Goa, July 31 -- Acting on a direction from the Supreme Court, the Bombay High Court at Goa has initiated a suo motu proceeding to examine the issue of stray dogs across the state.

The High Court has impleaded the Goa government, the Directorate of Panchayats and all municipal councils as respondents in the matter.

The Court has scheduled the case for hearing on Wednesday, when it is expected to consider the issue further and issue appropriate directions to the concerned authorities.

The suo motu proceedings follow the Supreme Court's direction, with the High Court set to examine measures for addressing issues relating to stray dogs and the responsibilities of the state and local bodies in managing the situation.
