Goa, April 30 -- The Forest Department has identified a vast 6,729.54 hectares of land along the banks of the Mandovi and Zuari rivers as ecologically sensitive zones, highlighting the urgent need for conservation. This area, equivalent to over 6.72 crore square metres, has been mapped as environmentally fragile due to its vulnerability to degradation and human interference. In an official communication to the Town and Country Planning Department, authorities have called for strict action under existing TCP regulations to ensure these riverbank regions are adequately protected.
