Goa, July 7 -- The Goa Excise Department seized suspected duplicate liquor worth approximately Rs.3.5 lakh during a surprise inspection at a wine store in Arpora as part of its ongoing drive against the sale of counterfeit alcohol.

Acting on suspicion, excise officials conducted the raid and recovered a substantial quantity of liquor believed to be counterfeit. The seized stock has been taken into custody for further examination.

The department has launched an investigation to trace the source of the suspected duplicate liquor and identify those involved in its supply and distribution. Officials said legal action will be initiated against those found responsible following the completion of the inquiry.
