Goa, Sept. 22 -- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that 12 mining leases have been successfully auctioned, marking a critical step in the state's ongoing efforts to revive the mining sector. Of these, nine leases are slated to commence operations immediately, while the remaining three are expected to begin by March next year.

In addition, Sawant confirmed that five more mining blocks located in North and South Goa will become operational within the next 20 days. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the phased resumption of mining activity will stabilize the sector and ensure that those dependent on mining for their livelihood will no longer face unemployment by 2026.
