Goa Children (Amendment) Bill 2026 Revised, 'Leprosy' Removed as Per Supreme Court Guidelines
Goa, July 22 -- Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has announced a minor revision to the Goa Children (Amendment) Bill, 2026, stating that the term "leprosy" has been removed from the proposed legislation in compliance with guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Sawant said the amendment was carried out to align the Bill with the apex court's directives, which seek to eliminate outdated and discriminatory terminology from laws and official documents.
The Chief Minister described the change as a minor amendment aimed at ensuring that the legislation conforms to current legal standards and promotes a more inclusive and non-discriminatory approach.
