Goa, April 13 -- Amid the ongoing controversy over the bypoll cancellation, Congress leader Girish Chodankar has alleged a misuse of institutions, terming the development a serious blow to democratic principles.

Chodankar stated that the party's candidate, Ketan Bhatikar, has approached the Supreme Court of India seeking restoration of the people's right to representation.

He emphasised that the legal move aims to safeguard democratic values and ensure that voters are not deprived of their constitutional right. According to him, the matter is expected to be listed for hearing later this week.
