Goa, July 28 -- The Goa State Election Commission has announced panchayat by-elections for Ward 1 of Guirim in Bardez and Ward 1 of Chinchinim-Deussua in Salcete. Polling will be held on August 16 from 8 am to 5 pm, while counting of votes is scheduled for August 17. Nomination papers can be filed between July 29 and August 5. The Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the two wards with immediate effect. The commission has also fixed the maximum election expenditure at Rs.40,000 for each candidate.
