Goa, July 31 -- The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports highlighting the ongoing tap water crisis in Korgao and has issued notices to the Chief Secretary, the Department of Drinking Water and the Public Works Department (PWD).

The Commission has directed the authorities to file their responses by August 21, when the matter will be taken up for further hearing.

In a separate proceeding, the GHRC has also recommended that the Goa government establish a unified grievance redressal mechanism for water-related complaints.
