SANGUEM, June 23 -- The recurring flooding of the old bridge connecting Bendwada and Dando during the monsoon has once again sparked concerns among residents, who say the submerged stretch poses a serious risk to both motorists and pedestrians.

Locals have alleged that the Public Works Department (PWD), Sanguem Division, failed to clean the bridge's water outlets before the onset of the rainy season, resulting in water accumulation whenever heavy rains occur.

According to residents, instead of undertaking proper maintenance, only temporary measures are reportedly adopted after flooding takes place, including attempts to clear clogged outlets using sticks to allow water to drain.
