Goa, Sept. 8 -- The unusual discovery of five young orangutans in the Bichitrapur forest area of Odisha's Balasore district has sent shockwaves through the region, raising serious questions about illegal international wildlife trafficking networks.

Local villagers in Bhograi block initially spotted the animals near the Ranakata Proposed Reserve Forest (PRF). Mistaking them for common monkeys, crowds gathered to record videos and take photos. Upon receiving reports, the Forest Department dispatched a team to inspect the area. Officials quickly identified the animals as young orangutans-a species completely alien to the natural habitats of Odisha and broader Indian forests.
