Goa, Oct. 2 -- The dramatic rescue of 27 fishermen off Mobor has reignited calls from Goa's fishing community for urgent improvements in coastal safety and modern rescue infrastructure.

The incident, which saw locals brave rough seas to save stranded fishers, has been hailed as a heroic effort. Among them was Francisco 'Pele' Fernandes, whose swift action prevented what could have been a major tragedy.
