Goa, July 17 -- Fatorda Police have registered an FIR against unidentified individuals for allegedly cheating a local resident out of gold worth Rs.60,000 by impersonating officers from the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
According to the complaint, the accused approached the victim under the pretense of being CID officials and convinced him to hand over the gold, reportedly as part of a bogus investigation. The suspects then fled the scene, leaving the victim defrauded.
Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing surveillance footage from the area to identify the culprits. Authorities have also urged the public to remain cautious and verify the identity of anyone claiming to be law enforcement personnel.
