Goa, May 7 -- Amid Mamata Banerjee's refusal to resign as West Bengal Chief Minister and the BJP's announcement of a May 9 oath-taking ceremony, speculation has intensified over who will lead the state next. Among the frontrunners is BJP leader Agnimitra Paul, who won from Asansol Dakshin in the 2026 Assembly elections with a margin of over 40,000 votes.
