Goa, June 22 -- Goa Forest Department officials have booked eight persons from Karnataka for illegally entering the restricted Jalvane Waterfall area located within the core zone of the Madei Wildlife Sanctuary.

With the latest action, the total number of individuals booked for trespassing into the prohibited zone has risen to 54. Authorities have reiterated that entry into the core area of the sanctuary is strictly prohibited in order to protect wildlife and preserve the fragile ecosystem.

To curb such violations, forest officials have stepped up monitoring and enforcement measures. A special anti-poaching camp has been established near the Goa-Karnataka border, and surveillance in the region has been intensified.
