Goa, Nov. 10 -- Dozens of people, including parents, concerned citizens, environmental activists, and political leaders, were detained at India Gate on Sunday evening after staging a protest against Delhi's worsening air quality. The demonstration, which began around 5 pm, also saw participation from animal rights activists expressing disapproval of the recent Supreme Court ruling on stray dogs.
Delhi Police said the gathering took place without prior permission, leading to heavy deployment at the site. Protesters, however, alleged they were threatened with FIRs and forceful detention. By evening, dozens were taken away from the venue.
