Goa, Aug. 25 -- US President Donald Trump has nominated his aide Sergio Gor as the next US Ambassador to India. The appointment has attracted attention beyond diplomacy due to a public spat with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who in June called Gor "a snake" following reports questioning his security clearance.

Gor, who became a US citizen in 1999 after emigrating via Malta, has been active in Republican political circles. He worked with the Republican National Committee, served as spokesperson for far-right lawmakers, and managed fundraising for Trump's 2020 campaign. Later, he became Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, responsible for overseeing the hiring of thousands of federal employees.
