Goa, July 9 -- A woman doctor who was allegedly assaulted by a Shiv Sena corporator at a municipal hospital in Maharashtra has resigned from her post, a day after her colleague reportedly quit and left the city citing safety concerns.

The incident took place at Shastri Nagar Hospital in Dombivli, which is run by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). According to reports, the confrontation began after two doctors advised the family of a newborn to shift the infant to another hospital because the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was full.
