India, March 26 -- A controversy has erupted in Margao after sharp allegations were levelled against PWD Minister Digambar Kamat over issues related to a Ganesh pandal site.

In a statement, youth leader Prabhav Naik, associated with Madganvcho Awaaz, accused Kamat of undermining faith and tradition. He alleged that recent actions-from the Shree Ganesh pandal controversy to creating a nuisance outside the Shree Ganesh Temple at Aquem Ring Road-have hurt religious sentiments.

Naik further claimed that there was an attempt to demolish a revered venue used for the Margao Municipal Sarvajanik Shree Ganeshotsav in order to facilitate the construction of a two-storeyed structure.
