Delhi Tightens Bus Safety Rules After Greater Noida Gangrape
Goa, Sept. 2 -- The Delhi government has reiterated mandatory safety norms for buses following the alleged gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl on a moving bus between Greater Noida and Delhi.
The State Transport Authority has directed bus operators, including those from other states operating in Delhi, to ensure buses are not fitted with curtains or window films. Adequate internal lighting must remain switched on while buses are moving so activities inside are visible from outside.
Buses must also have functional location-tracking devices and panic buttons. Drivers and staff are required to maintain proper conduct and possess valid licences and badges, with verification mandatory before deployment.
