Goa, Oct. 7 -- The Delhi High Court on Monday criticised the Delhi government for failing to implement the reservation policy for transgender persons in public employment, as mandated by the Supreme Court in its landmark 2014 judgment. The court has now decided to treat the issue as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL).

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela issued directions to the Delhi government to take an appropriate decision within 10 days to ensure benefits for transgender candidates in line with its 2021 notification, which provides relaxation in age and qualification marks for public sector jobs.
