Goa, April 7 -- Former Australian cricketer David Warner has been charged with drink-driving after being stopped by police in Sydney over the weekend. The 39-year-old, who continues to play Twenty20 cricket for global franchises, was reportedly driving a van that stopped near a random testing site on Sunday.

Police officers approached Warner's vehicle and conducted a breath test, which returned a positive result for alcohol, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He was arrested on the spot and taken to a local police station, where he was formally charged with mid-range drink-driving. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
