Goa, Dec. 24 -- BJP Goa president Damu Naik has downplayed the recent remarks made by the party's defeated Davorlim Zilla Panchayat candidate, Sattyavijay Naik, who had spoken of "backstabbing" following the election result.

Speaking to the media, Damu Naik said the comment was "sporadic" and an immediate reaction to the verdict, stressing that Sattyavijay did not intend the term to be interpreted in a literal sense. He added that emotions often run high after election results, and the remark should be viewed in that context.
