Goa, Aug. 19 -- Motorist Omkar Sawant had a miraculous escape after a portion of a huge advertisement hoarding near Dabolim Airport fell onto his motorcycle.

According to eyewitnesses, Sawant survived the impact because he was wearing a helmet when the board fell on his head. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of large hoardings erected close to the highway.

Social activist Xankar Polgi has called for suo motu action by the court against the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), demanding that all such hoardings in the area near the highway be removed.
