Goa, Aug. 1 -- The Cyber Crime Police have arrested S. Rakesh, a resident of South Bengaluru, for allegedly defrauding a Vasco resident of Rs.25.5 lakh by impersonating officials from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Investigations revealed that Rakesh is a key player in a wider fraud network and has been linked to 22 similar cases across 11 Indian states, with total fraudulent gains amounting to Rs.11.33 crore.
