Goa, May 19 -- Residents of Curchorem visited the local Electricity Department office and raised complaints over unusually high electricity bills, claiming that several charges mentioned in the bills were unclear and difficult to understand.

Citizens met the Assistant Engineer at the Electricity Department office in Curchorem and presented copies of their bills, alleging a sharp increase in the amounts charged. According to residents, households that earlier received electricity bills below Rs 2,000 are now suddenly being billed between Rs 6,000 and Rs 7,000.
