Goa, Aug. 12 -- Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez in a private ceremony, ending years of speculation over the couple's wedding plans.

The Portuguese football icon confirmed the marriage on social media by sharing a photograph of the couple's hands displaying their wedding rings. Ronaldo accompanied the post with the caption, "C (heart) G".

Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been together for nearly a decade and have largely kept details of their personal lives private. Speculation about their plans to marry had intensified in recent months, particularly following discussions surrounding the FIFA World Cup.
