Costi Villagers Boycott Ganesh Idol Immersion Over Alleged Piggery Pollution
Costi, Aug. 17 -- Residents of Costi village have unanimously resolved to boycott the traditional Ganesh idol immersion in the local nallah, alleging that the waterway has been contaminated by piggery waste and toxic slurry.
The decision was taken at a special village meeting convened to discuss the ongoing issue concerning the Jennifer Piggery Farm in Costi. Villagers alleged that wastewater, including piggery effluents, is being discharged into the nallah, resulting in severe pollution of the waterway.
The residents have demanded the immediate closure of the Jennifer Piggery Farm, stating that continued discharge of waste has affected the condition of the nallah and raised concerns among the local community.
